Visiting Leeds

Its vast range of attractions, thriving club scene, and world class sports and leisure venues make Leeds a brilliant place to visit.
The city is alive and vibrant - European-style cafes sit comfortably next to traditional English pubs.

Leeds is also the destination for shopping in the north, with its impressive Victorian shopping arcades, on top of all the major high street names.
It plays host to the largest department store in Yorkshire, and the only Harvey Nichols outside London. Leeds is also particularly good for shopping as it is predominantly a pedestrian-only area.

The range of restaurants is superb, with Indian, Chinese, Thai, Spanish, French, American, Italian and Mexican to choose from, on top of the traditional English food served in the quaint country pubs on the way to the Yorkshire Dales.

Millennium Square

Millennium Square is the cultural heart of the city centre. It is situated between some of the most important buildings of Leeds: the Civic Hall, the Town Hall and Leeds General Infirmary. It was made especially for the year 2000 becoming in the first new public square over 60 years. Millennium Square is popular for civic ceremonies, musical concerts and outdoor theatre performances. It is also a good place for broadcasting important national and international events.

Town Hall

Leeds Town Hall was designed by Cuthbert Brodrick in 1853 as an emblem of civic pride. With a height of 226 ft, it is one of the largest city halls in the UK. The distinctive of the tower is its clock that was not considered in the beginning but was added by Brodrick later.

The market attracts more than 100 thousand visitors a week for its different themes which are not the same every week. In the market are sold leather goods, cosmetics, greeting cards, jewellery, Asian and Oriental foods and a quite variety of accessories. It is open six days a week from 9am until 6pm.
